Starship is key to SpaceX’s commercial success and NASA’s plans to land humans on the moon. This is the 14th flight of the uncrewed Starship, but the first time it aims to reach orbit.

SpaceX successfully launched its Super Heavy-Starship for its first flight to orbit. CBS News' William Harwood has more.

Starship is the biggest and most powerful spacecraft ever built and it is meant to support NASA’s Artemis moon program.

Elon Musk’s Starship megarocket reached orbit for the first time on Monday after blasting off from Texas, in a major milestone for SpaceX’s future plans, including trips to the Moon and Mars . The black-and-silver behemoth, standing more than 120 meters tall, rose through a thick cloud of smoke on an ambitious 14th test flight. The upper stage separated from the Super Heavy booster and reached orbit about 26 minutes into flight. During the test, expected to last about 10 hours, the experimental
