All U.S. bombers deployed to RAF Fairford have been returned to their home stations in the United States, a Pentagon spokesperson confirmed to CBS News.

The planes' removal comes after several men were arrested on suspicion of a terror plot on the air base, with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham saying that Britain had "strong indications" that Iran was involved in the suspected plot targeting the base.

The Pentagon confirmed on Sunday that all US B-1 bombers deployed to Britain’s RAF Fairford had returned home following a security incident that prompted nearby evacuations. Police found no explosives after reports of suspicious activity at the base last Sunday. Five London-based British men arrested were subsequently released on bail.

The US removed its bombers from RAF Fairford partly because of a reported threat of a possible Iranian drone attack against the base, American officials have said.
